LinkLiving young person service readies for launch in Falkirk
Representatives from Falkirk Council and LinkLiving welcomed councillors, young people and their carers to their new support service for young people this week.
The accommodation-based service will support nine care-experienced young people to make the transition into independent living.
The service is to be managed by LinkLiving, specialists in supporting people to overcome the negative impacts of ill-health, trauma, inequality and isolation.
Director of LinkLiving, Sarah Smith said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract from Falkirk Council to manage this fantastic new service.
“The Council has done a wonderful job of remodelling the building into an impressive supported accommodation project with nine self-contained apartments, a staff base and communal areas within one three-storey building.”
The project is part of Falkirk Council’s Closer to Home Strategy and involves supporting young people who have been in residential childcare placements or foster care to develop the knowledge, skills and resilience necessary to make a successful transition to more independent living.
