Volunteers wanted for Older Persons' Service
We’re looking for volunteers to join to join our Older Persons’ service, which provides essential one-to-one support to socially isolated and lonely people aged 65+ living in Fife.
The support provided is tailored to each person - whether that’s going to a café, out for a walk, helping them go shopping or just taking part in local activities.
Without volunteers, we’re unable to provide this vital service.
What roles are available?
- Befriender
- Café helper
- Driver
The main qualities we look for in our volunteers are empathy, compassion, reliability and an ability to maintain confidentiality.
Due to the often-sensitive nature of the work, all volunteers need to undergo a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.
What are the benefits?
In addition to having a huge impact on someone’s life, volunteers can also benefit enormously. Benefits may include meeting new people, giving something to the community or a chance to gain valuable experience working with older people, which can then be used to progress a career.
Our volunteers are supported by a member of staff and are offered training relevant to their role.
Younger volunteers also have the opportunity to take part in the Saltire Awards for their contribution.
