What's on?

Here is a list of our current weekly drop-in sessions that take place at the Link Academy in Falkirk.

Job Club: Wednesdays 10.00am - 12.00pm

The Job Club teaches 16-25 year olds a range of employability skills, including:

  • CV building
  • Writing cover letters
  • Job searching
  • College/further training applications
  • Job experience
  • Interview skills

We support club participants to help them overcome interview anxiety and build resilience in regards to job searching and job knockbacks. We also provide in-job support (help with job contracts, job preparation). 

'Keep Calm and Stay Safe' IT skills: Wednesdays 10.00am - 12.00pm

Our ICT drop in is a self-study group, open to all ages which is run by volunteers.

Participants take part in an online course which can help them develop new skills and even gain a City & Guilds qualification.

You can also work through the ‘Open Learn’ online courses from the Open University. Examples of courses being taken by current participants include:

  • Astronomy
  • Gene therapy
  • Literacy
  • Computer systems
  • Group skills

SQA Level 4 Qualification - Step Up

Now taking referrals for January 2019

This course is run four times a year for 12 weeks and is aimed at young people aged between 16 and 25.

The course gives young people the opportunity to develop their confidence, self-esteem and employability skills as well as gaining valuable work experience and gaining an SQA accreditation.

This is a structured course with 9 weeks in the training room and 3 on a work placement of the young person's choice.

Young people cover four units to receive the SCQF Level 4 Employability Award.


Steps to Resilience

Starting 29 November 2018

This course runs twice weekly for 9 weeks and is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who have experienced trauma (including bullying and abuse).

It teaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness - useful skills and techniques proven to help with anxiety and self confidence.

SQA Level 4 Qualification - Tenancy & Citizenship

Starting 20 November with rolling intake

The Tenancy and Citizenship Award teaches 16-24 year olds various independent living skills.

Units covered:

  • Gaining and sustaining a tenancy
  • Looking after your home
  • Living in a community
  • Principles of money
