Fife Better Than Well Service

Our Better Than Well is provided by our self-help coaches who help people in Fife who have been affected by childhood trauma.

Better than Well is open to new referrals. Please note, we can only consider referrals from those able to have sessions over the phone or on video call. We will provide an update when we are able to meet people face-to-face.

Our self-help coaches provide help to people over the age of 16 in the Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Levenmouth areas, who have struggled with trauma and have found it difficult to engage with other services.

The service is funded by the Scottish Government's Survivor Support and Development fund.

What do we do

We will take the time to talk to you, and will work with you to help you recognise, understand and manage the symptoms of trauma.

We understand trauma as a broad range of traumatic, abusive or neglectful experiences that can be highly threatening and lead to feelings of fear and helplessness.

We also run seminars and learning events to increase awareness of the impact of childhood trauma, and encourage people to get involved with our Better Than Well service.

How we can help you

You will receive up to eight one-to-one sessions with a self-coach, who will teach you a range of useful coping strategies for managing symptoms of trauma.

We will also support you to access new opportunities and additional services.

The service has been brilliant. It took a lot for me to come in the door but I was able to feel relaxed and at ease straight away knowing someone was willing to help me. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I've used all the tools you have given me.
