What's on?

Here is a list of our current weekly drop-in sessions that take place at the Link Academy in Falkirk.

Job Club: Wednesdays 10am - 12 noon

The Job Club teaches 16-25 year olds a range of employability skills, including:

  • CV building
  • Writing cover letters
  • Job searching
  • College/further training applications
  • Job experience
  • Interview skills

We support club participants to help them overcome interview anxiety and build resilience in regards to job searching and job knockbacks. We also provide in-job support (help with job contracts, job preparation). 

'Keep Calm and Stay Safe' IT skills: Wednesdays 10am - 12 noon

Our ICT drop in is a self-study group, open to all ages which is run by volunteers.

Participants take part in an online course which can help them develop new skills and even gain a City & Guilds qualification.

You can also work through the ‘Open Learn’ online courses from the Open University. Examples of courses being taken by current participants include:

  • Astronomy
  • Gene therapy
  • Literacy
  • Computer systems
  • Group skills

You can also learn how to use a 3D printer, pilot our drones, use our virtual reality headsets and much more.

Activity Nights: first Tuesday of every month 4pm - 6pm

Our Activity nights are run by volunteers and give 16-25 year olds the chance to take part in a range of group activities, including arts and crafts, cooking and gaming.

Participants will also have the opportunity to gain qualifications, learn and build on skills and meet new people. 

SQA Level 4 Qualification - Employability Award 

Start date - to be confirmed

This course is aimed at young people aged between 16 and 25 who want the opportunity to develop confidence, employability skills and gain valuable, targeted work experience. 

Training includes:

  • CV building
  • Writing cover letters
  • Preparing for employment 
  • College/further training applications
  • Job experience

Participants will also have the chance to gain an SQA Employability Level 4 qualification.

SQA Level 4 Qualifications – Independent Living Skills

Starting Tuesday 8 October 2019

The course runs twice weekly for nine weeks and teaches valuable tenancy and life skills for 16-24 year olds.

Subjects covered include:

  • Choosing a tenancy
  • Looking after your home
  • Keeping yourself emotionally and physically safe in your property

Participants also have the opportunity to gain a Tenancy and Citizenship Award, as well as a qualification in:

  • Personal finance
  • Cooking
  • Internet safety
  • Health and wellbeing

Steps to Resilience

Starting 30 October 2019

This course runs twice weekly for 10 weeks and is aimed at young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who have experienced trauma (including bullying and abuse).

It teaches Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness - useful skills and techniques proven to help with anxiety and self confidence.


We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities available within Link Academy, including assisting with course delivery, activity coordinator, peer educator and more.

We provide full volunteer training and an opportunity to gain a Saltire Award.
