Older Persons' Service

We’re looking for volunteers to join to join our Older Persons’ service, which provides essential one-to-one support to socially isolated and lonely people aged 65+ living in a range of areas in Fife.

Volunteer Befriender

Our one-to-one befriending service aims to help brighten the lives of older people experiencing social isolation by matching befrienders to provide support and companionship to older people living in a range of areas in Fife. Our befrienders provide person-centered support in people’s homes and within their communities.

What's Involved?

  • Spending time with the person you are matched with regularly for one to two hours
  • Building rapport and getting to know the person you are matched with
  • Supporting hobbies, activities and/or community outings
  • Following Link Living's Policies and Procedures
  • Having fun!

What support will I receive?

  • Volunteers receive induction and role-specific training.
  • A named member of staff who will support your volunteering experience
  • Reimbursement of agreed expenses
  • Regular volunteer social activities
  • Regular team and 1 to 1 support sessions

Social Cafe Volunteer

Our Older Persons' Service aims to help tackle loneliness and social isolation for older people in a range of areas in Fife and bring people together in a safe, welcoming environment. 

We have exciting opportunities for Volunteer Cafe Helpers to support the delivery of a variety of activities, make our members feel welcome and encourage participation, making sure everyone has a cuppa.  

Cafés run weekly from 10.30am to 12.30pm in Torryburn, Rosyth, Tayport, and Cowdenbeath.

Volunteer Drivers

Volunteer drivers provide transport to and from the social cafes for many of our cafe members.

What does the role involve?

  • Use of your own vehicle with business insurance to collect café members from their homes and return them afterwards.
  • Provide members with any necessary assistance in and out of vehicles and into the venue.
  • You can also join in with social cafes activities, supporting members to participate.
