How LinkLiving’s support helped four young men into a home

(L-R) Hassan, Ahmed, Gibril, Musa

Four brothers who faced homelessness and instability after arriving in Scotland have now secured permanent tenancies and full-time employment, thanks to their determination and the support of LinkLiving.

After being placed in unsuitable temporary accommodation, the brothers were referred to Link Group partner LinkLiving, where they moved into supported training flats supported by our Edinburgh Young Persons' Service.

Over the following year, they worked closely with LinkLiving support staff to develop independent living skills, access benefits, and explore work opportunities.

All four are now in full-time employment, and in April this year, they successfully moved into permanent homes through Link’s housing division.

“We’re incredibly grateful,” said one of the brothers. “It’s been a difficult journey, but with support, we’ve made it through and now have somewhere to call home.”

Link Group Director of Communities and LinkLiving Chief Executive Sarah Smith said: “At LinkLiving, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to live and the opportunity to thrive.

“The progress these young men have made is a testament to their resilience – and to what person-centred support can achieve.”
