Trauma Skilled Practice – Frontline Staff

Who is it for?

This training is for frontline staff who are working with people on a regular basis that may be affected by trauma.  

The overarching aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to realise, recognise and to respond to trauma. The training has been designed in line with the NES Transforming Psychological Trauma Framework at Level 2 ‘Trauma Skilled Practice’.  

What will you learn?

Designed for frontline workers to develop their awareness and knowledge of the impact of trauma on individuals and society. Participants will consider how to respond using a trauma-informed approach, utilising their expertise and skills to support individuals.

Types of traumatic events The impact of trauma and the stress response Indicators, risk and resilience factors The Window of Tolerance Adverse childhood experiences Responding to disclosure Psychological First Aid and safeguarding Introducing Trauma-Informed Approaches	Interventions How trauma-informed is your service? Impact on the worker Vicarious trauma and vicarious resilience Self-care Support and supervision Reflective practice Trauma-informed approaches within organisations

How is it delivered?

The course is delivered over 2 full-day sessions (10am – 4.30pm) face-to-face or over 3 half-day sessions (typically 9.30-1.30pm) online.

All our sessions involve a mix of content, discussion and interactive activities to cater to different learning styles.

Where is the course held?

We deliver our open courses from our training venues located in Edinburgh, Fife, or Falkirk.
