Inspiring Leaders (SCQF Level 8)

Who is it for?

The Inspiring Leaders course is a Professional Development Award (PDA) designed to build and achieve competence in leadership and the development of operational plans. This course is for experienced leaders and managers looking to further develop their competence and knowledge in providing direction and motivation to achieve consistent team success. It is aimed at those who have experience in a leadership/management role and who are seeking fresh inspiration and thinking for their continued professional development. 

What will you learn?

Unit 1: Leadership

Unit 2: Management: plan, lead and implement change

On successful completion of the course, you will gain an SCQF Level 8 qualification which is jointly certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Learners registered on the PDA are eligible for 12 months of free studying membership of CMI.

On successful achievement of the PDA, learners can apply for membership of the CMI which means that they can become part of the professional community of managers.

How is it delivered?

Inspiring Leaders is delivered over 6 face-to-face sessions and will be assessed via self-directed work and assessments delivered within the face-to-face sessions. In addition, support sessions will be available throughout the course.

All our sessions involve a mix of content, discussion and interactive activities to cater to different learning styles. Participants will have the opportunity to hear thought-provoking leadership insights from a variety of experienced guest speakers throughout the course. This allows participants a safe space to explore how the theory can play out in practice in a multitude of settings.

The course covers:

Day 1 - Leadership in a modern organisation

Day 2 - Interpersonal leadership skills

Day 3 - Plan for change

Day 4 - Implementing change

Day 5 - Trauma-informed conflict resolution

Day 6 - Peer review – reflection and moving forward

Where is the course held and when can I take part?

We deliver our open courses from our training venues located in Edinburgh, Fife, or Falkirk.
