Leading with Influence (SCQF Level 7)

Leading with Influence is a Professional Development Award (PDA) which is an introduction to leadership and management.  It is  for first-line management roles to develop competence and knowledge in leadership and practice.  The programme will support managers to set and realise their vision in line with organisational objectives and to bring their team on a journey with them.

What will you learn?

Management: Leadership at Work

This is designed to enable you to analyse approaches to leadership, enabling you to apply them when leading a team within a functional area or department of an organisation with which you are familiar. It emphasises your need to consider a suitable leadership approach in the situation. This is likely to be one which can motivate, support and direct people to achieve the vision and objectives of the team.

Build and Manage Teams

This Unit is about building a team and managing it through its various stages of growth. It covers teams set up for a particular project or to carry out a specific task and also ongoing teams. It is equally relevant to cases where the manager has to set up the team from scratch and to those situations where the manager inherits an existing team and needs to help it function effectively.

How is it delivered?

Leading with Influence is delivered over 6 face-to-face sessions and will be assessed via self-directed work and assessments delivered within the face-to-face sessions.  In addition, support sessions will be available throughout the course.

All our sessions involve a mix of content, discussion and interactive activities to cater to different learning styles.  Participants will have the opportunity to hear thought-provoking leadership insights from a variety of experienced guest speakers throughout the course.  This allows participants a safe space to explore how the theory can play out in practice in a multitude of settings.

On successful completion of the course, you will gain an SCQF Level 7 qualification which is jointly certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Learners registered on the PDA are eligible for 12 months of free studying membership of CMI.

On achievement of the PDA, learners can apply for membership in CMI which means that  they can become part of the professional community of managers.
