Thriving Futures Fund

The Thriving Futures Fund, managed by Edinburgh Young Persons' Service on behalf of Turn2Us Edinburgh Trust, is a pilot grant programme which we were delighted to be asked to participate in.

The grant supports young people in Edinburgh facing financial insecurity in achieving long-term financial stability and personal goals through tailored support and financial aid. Support is individually tailored, ensuring that each young person is supported to develop a plan that keeps their individual aspirations at its core.

In the first year of the grant, we supported 24 young people from a range of different backgrounds to thrive, achieving goals such as:

  • Starting new businesses

  • Gaining new skills

  • Accessing training

  • Pursuing hobbies

  • Maja

Maja achieved her ambition of starting her own sustainable fashion business, ‘Devilish Fashion’!

“Before being offered the fund, I was unable to do a lot of the things that would help me grow my hobby into something bigger, like a small business. Thanks to the Thriving Futures fund, I was able to take my hobby to the next level.”

  • Gibril

Gibril used the grant to access a football coaching course at college and has progressed on to play football at a semi-professional level.

“The grant eased a lot of financial pressure so I could focus on my studies and football development. It’s genuinely helped me manage my responsibilities better and stay motivated for my long-term goals.”

  • AJ

The Thriving Futures Fund supported AJ to realise his dream of running his own animal rescue and rehabilitation centre, with a specialism in reptiles.

He is now running a Registered Social Enterprise based in St Margaret’s House!
