Youth Emergency Support Service

The Youth Emergency Support Service (YESS) is for 16- and 17-year-olds that are in crisis and are at risk of or are currently experiencing homelessness.

The service aims to achieve the following:

  • Support young people to firstly get referred to the Council’s Young Person’s Homeless Prevention Housing Officers to acquire accommodation and explore their housing options
  • Set up relevant benefits and support young people with Universal Credit appointments
  • Assistance with finding school support, applying for and discussing college, work or University prospect.
  • YESS also supports young people to return or remain at home

How you can access this service

To access this service, a young person can go into any Edinburgh locality office (CEC Locality Offices) and ask to be referred to the YESS project.
